Restoration of the old house in Slovenia
• Restoration of the old house in Slovenia
Vodusek & Dolecek Architectural Office implemented the project of a private residence Vila Mravljevi in the beautiful countryside of Slovenia. Built on a hill surrounded by vineyards and orchards overlooking the valley and a plateau, this home combines old stone building and an outbuilding. Architects conducted the reconstruction of the residence, preserving historical elements and adding their functionality and style.
Next to the renewed building now stands the new building, which grew on the site of the destroyed outbuilding, not to be restored. It designed dining room, kitchen, rooms for games and recreation, as well as a sauna. The main part of the house has three bedrooms with bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and wine cellar. Architects preserved stone walls and old wooden elements were replaced with concrete. Also added steel staircase, four-meter window and painted white original wooden ceiling. The decor presents a harmonious blend retroelements with objects in a contemporary style. From the viewpoint of energy consumption, design meets current standards, because in-house heat pump operation, and a rooftop mounted photovoltaic panels to generate electric power, and solar panels for heating water. Thus, the seat is self-sufficient. Photo: Nina Kurnik
