Kyshtym accident occurred September 29, 1957: at the "Mayak", specialized in the manufacture of nuclear weapons, there was an explosion. The reason was the failure of the cooling system of containers with radioactive wastes. Once the temperature has reached a critical point in the sky a cloud of radioactive dust.

The measures to eliminate the consequences of the accident were not taken immediately. A week later, it was decided to evacuate people from the contaminated area. Hushing up the tragedy was due to several reasons: the accident occurred in the closed city of Chelyabinsk-40, so the information could not advertise.
