Ak-Kaya and White Rock - rock Crimea beauty
• Ak-Kaya and White Rock - rock Crimea Beauty
How much do I have traveled to the Crimea, there was always the feeling that on this island land someone collected geological and landscape beauty almost from around the world - so different reliefs and types can be found here. One of these places can be called white rock, which will be discussed today.
Almost in the middle of Crimea, between the main mountain range and the endless steppes, more than 300 meters rises extremely unusual cuesta formation resembling a world-renowned Arizona scenery (although, with the exception of color scale) - vertical wall Ak-Kaya, or White Rock.
It is difficult to imagine, but this rock was once the seabed, as evidenced by the huge number of fossilized shells and mollusks that come across here is just under your feet.
Since Soviet times, this place was chosen by filmmakers to make films about the American West, Indians and not only - at different times of White Rock filmed "Man from Boulevard des Capucines", "Mustang pacer", "leader of the Redskins," "Mirage" "Chipollino", "armed and dangerous", "cabbages and Kings", "Lobo", "money-changers", "Wonderful valley," "The Headless Horseman", "The plane flies in Russia", "The witches Cave", "Escape to the ends, "" apocalypse code "et al.
White Rock is located in Belogorsk district of Crimea over the valley of the river Bink-Karasu. If you get to it from the north, and not immediately realize that the guide to the incredible cliff - going through the steppe road, transshipped through the hills and suddenly ... you under the steep wall. From the south, the rock looks exactly as in the photo - from left to right Ak-Kaya, on the right - Mount Adzhilar. Between them, the top is crumbling winding road on which the earlier and climbed to the plateau. Now there is a paved road to the right of Adzhilara, from which branches off the top of the primer is already passing along the edge of almost Adzhilara and Ak-Kaya.
White rock was formed by erosion and weathering of the Cretaceous limestone and sandstone for many thousands of years. If you stand right under the rock - at the foot of very visible mound that was once a rock wall.
The plateau on Mount Adzhilar. Here, at the foot of Adzhilara and further, in the depression between it and the Ak-Kaya and filmed those same movies, which I mentioned at the beginning.
The views from the mountain plateau Adzhilar.
The geometry of the fields.
A is already visible in the distance White Rock.
Here is a giant relay. The design is so huge that it can be seen from several kilometers away, and know about it, if not all, very many Crimeans. According to one version - a passive transponder for amplifying or signal reflections missile shore based radar, on the other - is part of a system for creating radar jammers, as a third - a repeater (or reflector) was generated for the test superconfidential guided missile complex "air-to-sea" system " Comet".
But a clear answer, what kind of design is and what it is, I did not find ...
At the foot of White Rock was not built in one town with the decorations for the filming. All that you have seen, for example, in "The Man from Boulevard des Capucines", it was located in this place under a rock.
The views from White Rock.
The tip of the rock wall. A feeling that someone just cut off all the excess with a knife.
The height is about 325 meters above sea level.
The old road that led to the rock. Today, climb on it can only be well-prepared SUV.
The faults at the top of the plateau. Here in general a lot of faults, natural grottos and caves.
White rock wall rock. At the bottom is clearly visible scree created by wind.
One of these "small" pieces fall off and fly down with a crash.
At the foot of the White cliffs in the 70s it was excavated about 20 sites of prehistoric man Mousterian.
And near the ancient centers found a large number of fossil remains of extinct fauna of the Crimea: mammoth, cave bear, giant and red deer, saiga, primeval ox, wild horse, onager, and others.
One of the fractures in the rock wall.
But once it was the seabed. Yes, it's hard to believe, but true. That here and there under the feet that's come across such blocks of stone, which consists entirely of fossilized seashells.
Shellfish, frozen in stone.
In some places, it's just a piece of rock.
Some of the shellfish themselves become stones.
