Artificial sun for the residents of the Italian village
• Artificial sun for the residents of the Italian countryside
Residents of an Italian village viganella, lacking sunlight for several weeks a year, fashioned for himself something like "artificial sun" - a giant mirror installed on the mountain, which rises in front of the village.
In the north of Italy, near Turin, it is a small village viganella. Residents called it Siberia, because in the period from November 11 to February 2 here does not look the sun. At all. Because the village is situated at the bottom of the depression between the mountains.
A small population of the village and lived here for about 200 people, suffer greatly from sunlight deficiency. People dreamed of even an artificial sun, and this is one of them struck - he offered to install on top of the mountain, at an altitude of 870 meters and the reflector of the sun refracted on which the sun's rays would light viganella.
Craftsmen immediately made all the necessary calculations - reflector area should be 40 square meters, the project will require investments in the amount of 100 000 euros.
The idea has spread in the media, she became interested in her company from Germany, Switzerland and the United States. But patriotic villagers have chosen to implement the project Italian firm. There were also sponsors willing to allocate funds for the creation of "artificial sun". And in December 2006, on top of the mountain, which towers over the valley, where the viganella, shone "artificial sun".
There set structure consisting of a steel plate of 40 square meters with a reflective surface, equipped with a computer control, by which the mirror is rotated to follow the sun, so that it is uniformly illuminated village. Since simultaneously "artificial sun" can not cover more than 300 square meters, the computer is designed to ensure that all parts of the village were covered with light equally.
When the "artificial sun" and changed lifestyle viganella residents, they are not in a hurry to go home after the service in the church, spend a lot of time on the main square, chatting with each other.
