Brighter Christmas tree
• Brighter Christmas tree
I met a couple of years ago, the New Year away from home, snow, blizzards and Santa Claus. And the tree was not there. But was the Kek Lok Si Temple, brightened by millions of colored lights is not worse than the Christmas tree!
He and the day is like a bright, shiny, magic box. Chinese lanterns visible not only at night, especially since thousands of them here! Plus the color tiles, overgrown with strange colors, ornate houses, towers, fountains and terraces. Everything is so variegated that the eye nowhere to rest.
It is Malaysia, Penang Island, Georgetown. Here the city center can be reached fairly quickly, within half an hour if a "traffic jam" lucky.
How can I keep track of so many colors - it is not clear. There are many things to the monks. Although I suspect that here except a bunch of monks staff - gardeners brigade, electricians, cleaners and even fish farmers.
The interior is also astounding. Tilts her head up, and a ceiling ...
The walls are decorated with three-dimensional reliefs, columns - openwork carving on a stone. That's just to see all this I really do not give. I came here just before closing, we have to nod to a request to leave the premises and move into the adjacent, yet, and there will not expel.
Often the eye catches a swastika.

This guy spotted from afar, a kind of south-eastern punk with bright red mohawk on his head. In spite of all his rebellious appearance, it is quite a fervently prayed to the deity in the form of Chinese mothers.
From the inner chambers I still kicked. Dusk, and it can be assumed that with the onset of darkness all around transformed, finally light up all those countless thousands of lanterns!
With the lights and it happened. Why not New Year ?! Firecrackers, confetti, sparklers add - and all! Here with the snow - harder ...
To me, it should look like gambling houses and casinos, but not churches. Las Vegas with some Monte Carlo together. Although, maybe it's their idea of what is unreal, netherworld, afterlife, fairy-tale world, some kind of paradise?
Or maybe it's their only way into the New Year, while the rest of the time - the temple as the temple. Although little hard to believe that all this riot of colors is only a couple of months. I think the answer is simple: this temple has long been turned into a tourist site and a means to collect considerable sums of money.
Although what's the difference, because the New Year, even Chinese!
