Studio h2o architectes executed reconstruction of apartments of 85 square meters in the suburbs of Paris (France), the maximum aperture of the available space and removing all the inevitable lot of little things in life in a specially constructed volumes.
The apartment is in a building built in the 60's, and the architects have set the task to transform the space without a radical re-planning, without affecting the main load-bearing elements and communication.
The various functions of daily life have been allocated in a separate volume. They are made of wood and shaped like envelopes. Each function is indicated by means of different types of wood, which adds to the contrast material into the overall interior palette. At the same time these volumes articulate the surrounding area. Boxes are some distance from the load-bearing walls, leaving free the approaches to the large balcony windows. Due to the beveled edges of the top of the boxes is visually separated from the ceiling. These ramps help to assess liberated and updated exterior space. Each of the boxes is equipped with a window. Inside there is a large number of shelves, cabinets, and other useful elements.
The size of the boxes is adjusted so as to meet the functions inside the "room" and at the same time to liberate the maximum external volume of space, which, in fact, is the main life-area flat.
