Colombian artist Diana Beltran Herrera creates a stunning paper birds, using only colored paper, glue and scissors. The last few years Diane revives using paper not only birds, but also fish, flowers and butterflies. And recently, a number of her works has reached the level of 100 pieces.

Diana said in an interview with the magazine Creative Review: "Before you begin creating the birds, I experimented with geometric shapes, in order to understand how it is possible to transfer the shape of the plane in the volume option, then I began to work with new techniques and portray what I always liked - fish, animals and vegetables. "


"When I started working with figures of birds, I was in Helsinki, and after the creation of a series of wood for the show, I went back to the paper, and she had a relaxing effect on me. It was at that moment it all started, and when I came back to Colombia, I began to watch the local birds and make their sketches on paper. "


Work on each sculpture begins with a kind of frame, which is also made of paper, and already this framework Diana neatly placed cut paper feathers. This process can take anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks, it all depends on the type of animal, whose sculpture of the artist creates.









Birds look almost like living, and this is achieved by careful study of photographs, observing animals in the wild, talking with ornithologists .


Diane really enjoys his work, but it is recognized that the biggest reward for it - it is the connection that she feels with nature through their art.


"His favorite part of my job is to find inspiration in the wild. I feel like a child again, who longs for all to learn and discover. I love the feeling of surprise, I like to enjoy the experience. "
