Movie premieres in March 2013

When a hurricane throws circus magician Oscar Diggs from dusty Kansas to the magical country of Oz, prone to fraud circus believes he caught the tail of luck - because with the help of his tricks, he can easily get in the new Länder, and fame and fortune. However, it will meet with three sorceress, Theodora, Evanor and Glenda who doubt that there is a great magician, whose appearance waiting for gullible people of Oz. - Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp were considered for the role of Oz.

- Blake Lively was offered the role of Glinda, but she declined in favor of "particularly dangerous" (2012) by Oliver Stone.

- The fantastic world of the film created a winner of the award "Oscar" production designer Robert Stromberg. In total, he built sets for the 24 places where the action unfolds film. Given some of the interiors, on which he worked as an artist, it turns out only 30 works. Through the efforts of Stromberg on the screen were so familiar to all from childhood facilities like yellow brick road and the Emerald City. In addition, it was built not so recognizable, but no less colorful locations: Witches Throne Hall; PrichudlivyyLes where Oz meets Theodora; Dark Forest, where the audience first see the good witch Glinda; and the porcelain city, all the inhabitants of which are made of porcelain.

- The protagonist of the film became one of the most famous in the wizarding world. With readers all over the world it introduced Frank Baum in his book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." From 1900 to 1920 Baum wrote 14 books, which takes place in a fictional world. However, none of them ever talk about the past all-powerful sorcerer. The film is a kind of cinematic introduction to the events described in the first book about the Land of Oz, and tells the background of the very wizard. Most of the characters on the screen moved directly from Baum's books. However, there will be many new characters that audiences have never seen, for example, a porcelain doll and Kvodlingi. - James Franco, who plays Oscar Diggs (also known under the name of Oz), had to learn a few magic tricks. The only way he could get used to the image of a humble magician from a circus tent. The work of the actor on the set began two weeks before the official start of the shooting - that is how much time it took magician from Las Vegas Lance Burton to teach his skill Franco. The actor worked every day and mastered the tricks with doves and fire. In addition, he has learned to get various objects from the cylinder and make things levitate.

- witch outfits created German designer Michael Kutshe, taking care to match the overall presentation of production designer Robert Stromberg. Above the wardrobes witch Kutshe worked together with his colleague Gary Jones.

- Designer suits Gary Jones and his team have prepared a wardrobe for more than 1500 actors from dwarf Munchkins and until the giant-Migunov. This titanic work in costume took more than 23 weeks. Only for the main characters (Oz, Theodora, Glinda and Evanor) was developed more than 200 costumes.

James Franco will appear on your screen throughout the film in the same three-piece suit, which flew Oz from Kansas. However, this suit was sewn to fame. Costume designer Gary Jones has studied fashion specificity of 1880-1930's. Then dresser met with Franco in New York and the actor showed old photos, which were sealed with the costumes of the time. Jones and Franco agreed with respect to the final version of Oz Costume - strict black suit.

- The film applied over 3000 elements props, of which 1400 were produced by hand especially for shooting pictures. This number does not include 5,000 coins that property master Russell Bobbitt manufactured specifically for the chest of treasure Oz. On one side of each of these coins depicted yellow brick road, on the other - the profile of the writer L. Frank Baum. - Sites for location filming in suburban Detroit that were used in the filming, picked professional shrub Dan Gilluli. Wandering around the neighborhood, he found an orchard, dotted with dried peach trees. They became the basis of the Dark Forest.
