• Iceland Travel off-road

I love Iceland and believe that this is the most photogenic country in the world. Of course, when I was invited to participate in the ride off-road on Iceland, I gladly agreed. Well, anyway, I really like to ride the big companies - always among the hundred people there are close-minded ...

We flew to Iceland three flights: in Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm. At the same time we arrived at the scene almost simultaneously, with a difference of 15 minutes. Gathered at the airport, we sat on the bus and went to Reykjavik:

We were brought to "The Viking Village". Animators Viking shouted something to us in Icelandic, then slightly fought each other with swords:

Then we arrived at the hotel, where they held a briefing. All divided into groups of four or five, each given by Defender. Of the twenty-five crews collected three big teams, who were in the next few days to overcome the difficult route and compete with each other in an exciting quest:

Not all were attentive during instruction: Ilya Smirnov as "tired" during the flight that slept all briefing:

After the briefing we left for their hotel, and went to the route at 7 am:

The first stop occurred 50 kilometers north-east of Reykjavik - Park Tingvelir. The park is known for the fact that it passes through the rift between the European and North American continental plates, I have been here before:

In the first quest you need to go down and find six bundles of firewood with a ribbon the color of his team:

And this is - team representatives otvyaznoy "Peregaar", headed by Ilya Smirnov. Since this trip was by car, the organizers have introduced a strict ban on alcohol, so the team "Peregaar" unable to express themselves in full force:

In this picture clearly shows how Europe and America are drifting apart:

After completing the task (all bundles have been found successfully), we have gone further:

Iceland - an island around which is the federal highway ring №1. Most other roads on the island - ground (however, the federal highway in many places devoid of asphalt)

Our team. Ahead of support machine - Patrol with wheels 44 inches in diameter. They can blow off, which is very useful when driving on snow and powder snow.

Almost the entire first day were driving along the old road, which was built to extend a power line:

A small frozen furrow - the first obstacle that needed to be overcome with courage. Organizers reinsured and forced to include all ponizhaykoy, although, of course, it could move on Zhiguli:

The higher we climbed on the dirt road, the more snow appeared around:

In general, Iceland - an amazing country. When you go around the island each day as if you get to a new country, where the landscape changes completely. With the weather we insanely lucky, it was even better than when I came in August. Icelanders say they only have three days worth of the year the weather is good - and we were lucky enough to get it to them:

Lunar landscape.

At some point, the road on which we drove, turned into pure ice. In the wake of the tires it shows how the car pulled to the curb. She just went straight, but at some point the forward movement stopped, she started to slide perpendicular to the road and fell into it almost turned over:

Many people do not take risks and making the rounds of the road in the snow:

Since we had a VIP-car with "Ishak 1" number, we decided to separate from the main column and climbed to the top of the volcano:

At the top we were waited unreal beauty

The first day of our road trip around Iceland was rich: after Park Tingvelir we climbed the slopes of the volcano, and then visited the Gullfoss waterfall and active geysers ...

separated from the main column, we headed to the volcano:

On the way, we had a bit of a flat tire:

Denis - man with inexhaustible energy. He is always somewhere in a hurry, doing something and all surprised - I think this is a very good quality in others:

has not reached seven meters to the edge of the caldera, thoroughly exhausted. By the time we entered into the cloud, and visibility dropped to a couple of meters. I could not see even the escort car - complete disorientation:

Here the idea was born with the caps. Ahead you will find a whole series of similar pictures:

When the cloud dissipated a little, then it opened a wonderful view: it seems the sky and snow slope merged with each other:

Even though we went under the transmission lines, the road was conditional, and we sit down periodically:

At some point it began to snow. In general, the weather in Iceland is changing very rapidly. There is even a local saying: "If you do not like the weather, wait 10 minutes":

There were a few water obstacles:

Some of them were deep enough. During one of these crossings water burst in the trunk, which was lying on the floor of my backpack with the documents. Everything got wet and had to be dried on the battery the following evening:

Then we caught up with the other participants: we have a little ferry took off and went to the falls:

In the parking lot to the waterfall I saw, what should be the minivan with the properties of an SUV:

This geyser "spits" every 10 minutes. Each geyser has its own name, but the main is called - Geyser:

The others did not shoot, but are photogenic hot pools:

During the 20th century, this geyser was almost inactive, but after the eruption of the nearby volcano at the beginning of 2000, again erupt:

Before the eruption reached the height of 60 meters - today does not exceed 10:
